Travel Nurse Job Details
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Tyler, TX 75701 – East Texas healthcare jobs
- Unit: Labor & Delivery (LDRP)
- Start Date: December 1, 2025
- End Date: March 2, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:00 - 06:00), 3 shifts per week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Number of Beds: 15
- Number of Rooms: 14
- Weekend Coverage: Required (6 weekends per contract)
- Holiday Coverage: Must be available to work 2 out of 3 holidays if needed
- Orientation: 24 hours onsite
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or compact state
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency with Epic charting system
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN (Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced)
- Preferred: Previous charge nurse and Trauma Level I experience
- Must not reside in the following Texas counties: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a 15-bed LDRP unit
- Monitor and assess mothers and infants, including fetal heart monitoring and newborn assessments
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and high-risk births
- Administer medications and manage IVs, including magnesium sulfate therapy and insulin drips
- Support breastfeeding and provide lactation education to new mothers
- Perform and document APGAR scores, newborn hypoglycemia checks, and metabolic screens
- Educate and provide discharge teaching for parents, including car seat and circumcision care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients and families
