Radiation Oncology RN Job Details
- Location: Washington, DC 20010 (DC nursing jobs)
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
- Unit: Radiation Oncology
- Start Date: December 8, 2025
- End Date: March 9, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day Shift, 8-hour shifts (08:00 - 17:00), Monday through Friday
- Hours per Week: 40
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1660 - $1780
- Patient Population: Adult oncology patients (Daily census: 30-40)
- Charting System: Cerner EMR
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Oncology RN experience (Radiation Oncology nursing preferred)
- Active DC Registered Nurse license (must be in hand at time of submission)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Experience with Cerner charting system
- At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment (will screen if less)
- Two (2) supervisor references required
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
Radiation Oncology Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to adult oncology patients undergoing radiation therapy
- Manage and care for ports, central lines, and implanted lines
- Respond to acute oncologic emergencies including Tumor Lysis Syndrome, Anaphylaxis, Sepsis, Hemorrhage, and Spinal Cord Compression
- Implement neutropenic precautions and radiation safety protocols
- Perform tracheostomy care and management
- Educate patients and families on radiation treatment plans, side effect management, and simulation procedures
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members including social workers and nutritionists
- Assist with new consults, dental referrals, and telephone triage
- Prepare charts, complete disability forms, and handle pharmacy calls
- Start IVs and provide care for patients with various cancer diagnoses (prostate, breast, colorectal, cervical/endometrial, head and neck, lung)
