Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (New York healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Cardiac Stepdown
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Start Date: November 17, 2025
• End Date: December 15, 2025
• Contract Duration: 4 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (36 hours/week)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year's Day/Eve)
• Floating: Required to float to appropriate units as part of the Resource Float team
• Charting System: EPIC (recent experience required)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2100-$2250

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (New York RN license preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience in Telemetry, Progressive Care, or Cardiac Stepdown nursing
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (required prior to start)
• EPIC charting experience within the past 2 years
• Ability to float to other hospital units as needed
• Reliable transportation (public transportation not available in Plattsburgh, NY)
• Professional appearance: navy blue or white scrubs; closed toe, nonskid shoes

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with acute cardiac and progressive care needs
• Monitor and manage patients with acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, post-cardiac catheterization, and complex cardiac conditions
• Administer and titrate cardiac and insulin drips, start IVs, and provide post-cardiac cath care
• Conduct frequent patient assessments and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including respiratory and anesthesia support
• Document all patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC electronic health records
• Float to other units as assigned to support hospital staffing needs
• Comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and dress code requirements
