  • Location: Lexington, Kentucky (40536) – Discover Kentucky nursing jobs in a vibrant city known for its horse country, rich history, and welcoming healthcare community.
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800-$1840
  • Assignment Length: 8-10 weeks (potential for extension)
  • Start Date: December 2, 2025
  • End Date: January 27, 2026
  • Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts weekly (rotating start times: 6:00am, 7:00am, or 8:00am)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • On-Call: 2-3 call shifts per 6-week schedule (weekday/weekend call required)
  • Unit: Interventional Radiology PACU (Prep/Recovery)
  • Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics

PACU Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active Compact RN or Kentucky Registered Nurse license (required at submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PACU nursing experience, including phase 1 recovery
  • At least 1 year of ICU nurse experience
  • Experience caring for pediatric patients (not limited to pediatric PACU)
  • Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; PALS required prior to start (can obtain after offer)
  • Proficient in arterial line management, ventilated patient care, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia recognition, medication reconciliation, and pre/post Interventional Radiology procedures
  • Ability to float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed
  • Reference from a charge nurse or supervisor required at submission
  • COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • Local travelers within 75 miles not accepted

PACU RN Responsibilities – Interventional Radiology

  • Deliver comprehensive pre- and post-procedure nursing care for Interventional Radiology patients in the PACU
  • Monitor phase 1 recovery and ICU-level patients, including pediatric and adult populations
  • Administer conscious sedation and manage arterial lines and ventilated patients
  • Provide discharge instructions and perform medication reconciliation
  • Respond to scheduled call shifts, including after-hours and weekends
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy)
  • Float to main PACU as needed for patient recovery
  • Complete required onboarding, orientation, and annual competency modules
