Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Marquette, MI 49855 – Michigan Upper Peninsula healthcare jobs in a welcoming community
- Setting: Observation Unit (Adult patients only)
- Employment Type: Travel Nursing
- Shift: 12 Hour Nights (19:00-07:00), including weekends and holidays
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 12/8/2025 – End: 3/9/2026)
- Unit Size: 10 beds
- Patient Ratio: Approx. 1:5
- Electronic Health Record: Cerner
- Dress Code: Galaxy blue scrubs
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1880–$2020
Med/Surg RN Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience
- BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, Telemetry/ECG Competency (TNCC, ENPC preferred)
- Ability to float to Medical, Cardiac, and Neuro-Ortho units
- Strong clinical assessment and rapid response skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments in the Observation Unit
- Develop and modify care plans based on provider orders and patient needs
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per protocol
- Monitor and report vital signs, labs, and diagnostic results
- Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with physicians, case management, and multidisciplinary teams
- Document all assessments and interventions in Cerner EHR
- Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges efficiently
- Ensure safe transitions of care and patient teaching for follow-up
- Respond to emergencies and perform interventions within RN scope of practice
- Maintain compliance with infection control, patient safety, and hospital policies
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
