Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Tupelo, MS 38801 (Mississippi nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (1/14/2026 – 4/12/2026)
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown Unit (16 beds, Level 2 trauma hospital)
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Schedule: 3-1-3 or 6 on/8 off (provided at contract start)
• Floating: Required to other stepdown units within the hospital
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1780–$1910

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Mississippi
• At least 1 year of recent cardiac stepdown or stepdown nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required for healthcare jobs)
• NIHSS certification (required)
• Preferred: TB and ASLS certifications
• Ability to pass Basic and Advanced Dysrhythmia (rhythm strip) tests with a score of 80% or higher
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as scheduled (must work Christmas Eve or Christmas Day AND New Year's Eve or New Year's Day)
• Must not have worked perm/per diem at NMMC in the last 12 months
• Full compliance documentation due 7 days before start date

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients
• Monitor and assess cardiac patients, manage medications, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Float to other stepdown units within the hospital as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Document care and interventions accurately in the Epic EMR system
• Maintain flexibility and availability for scheduling needs, including weekends and holidays
• Adhere to hospital policies, including mask requirements if unvaccinated for COVID-19 or flu
