CVICU RN Job Details
- Location: Madison, WI 53792 (Wisconsin healthcare jobs)
- Department: Cardiothoracic Surgery & Transplant CVICU
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/15/2025 – End: 3/16/2026)
- Shifts: 3x12-hour rotating shifts (Days: 07:00–19:30 / Nights: 19:00–07:30), every other weekend, some holidays required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2,200 - $2,260
- On-Site Nursing Position
- Orientation: 1 week (24 hours)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Wisconsin or compact state RN license (required at submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care RN experience in CVICU (within last 3 years)
- Travel RN experience required
- Proficiency with NextStage CVVH machine
- Epic charting experience preferred (within last 12 months)
- BLS & ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Basic arrhythmia and telemetry experience; must pass telemetry exam prior to start
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (no local candidates)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
CVICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced CVICU environment
- Manage care for patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgeries, heart/lung transplants, and those with advanced cardiac devices (LVAD, IABP, Impella, ECMO)
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms; respond to emergencies and rapidly changing patient conditions
- Utilize advanced equipment including CRRT (NxStage), ventilators, and hemodynamic monitoring devices
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and social workers
- Float to other nursing units as needed based on staffing requirements
- Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain required clinical competencies
