Compensation

• Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $1910 - $1960 per week

PCU RN Job Details – Roanoke, Virginia

• Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (option to extend up to 52 weeks)
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15); 4x12 available upon request
• Hours per Week: 36
• Start Date: December 15, 2025
• Unit: General Medicine Progressive Care Unit (Hybrid: 10 PCU beds, 2 ICU beds)
• Patient Population: Adult and Geriatric patients
• Charting System: EPIC (EPIC experience required)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block
• Holiday Requirement: One holiday per 13-week contract

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or Compact State
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, stepdown, or progressive care nursing experience
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (required for PCU nursing jobs)
• Proficient with EPIC charting system
• Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management skills
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care
• Medication administration including cardiac drips (no titration)
• Respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, trach care
• Ventilator care for chronic trach and vent patients
• Rapid Response and Code team activation experience
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and telemetry settings (PCU, DOU, IMC, stepdown units)

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with diagnoses such as DKA, COPD, sepsis, overdose, chronic respiratory failure, and renal failure
• Manage vent/trach dependent patients in a hybrid PCU/ICU environment
• Perform comprehensive assessments and bedside reporting each shift
• Float to other units within your clinical skillset as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Social Services)
• Participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC
• Adhere to infection control protocols and isolation precautions
