Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Richmond, VA (23225) – Virginia healthcare jobs
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1780-$1910
• Unit: 6th Floor, Main Hospital – Med/Surg, Telemetry, Trauma Unit
• Unit Size: 33 beds
• Team: Collaborative staff including Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Unit Secretary, and Charge Nurse
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Assignment Duration: 13-week travel nurse contract (Start: 12/8/2025 – End: 3/9/2026)
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs (no cotton jackets)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in a hospital setting (Med/Surg, Telemetry, Trauma)
• Active RN license in Virginia or Compact State
• BLS & ACLS certifications required
• Ability to pass Basic Rhythm test
• Strong patient care focus and excellent communication skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in Med/Surg, Telemetry, and Trauma units
• Monitor patient status and respond to changes using advanced clinical equipment (EKG, Code cart, Vascular Doppler, wound vacs, Carescape monitors)
• Perform unit procedures including small I&Ds, peritoneal dialysis, and occasional thoracentesis
• Document patient care and interventions using Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve exceptional patient outcomes
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a supportive, high-energy work environment
