Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: New Haven, CT (06510) – Connecticut nursing jobs
- Healthcare Setting: Level I Trauma Center, Short Term Acute Care
- Unit: CVICU (Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) contract
- Start Date: December 12, 2025
- End Date: March 13, 2026
- Duration: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Guaranteed Hours: Yes
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 (days and nights)
- Charting System: Epic EMR
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1880–$2020
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut or compact state (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 3 years of recent cardiac ICU or CVICU nursing experience required
- At least 1 year of experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
- Proficiency with Swan-Ganz monitoring required
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (CCRN preferred)
- Experience with Epic charting system
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Ability to float to ICU and PCU as needed
- Not accepting local candidates (must reside >75 miles from facility)
CVICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced nursing care to adult patients with complex cardiac conditions in a high-acuity CVICU
- Manage and monitor advanced cardiac devices and procedures, including ECMO cannulation, IABP, Impella, CentriMag, VAD, and valve repairs/replacements
- Interpret and monitor hemodynamic data, including Swan-Ganz and arterial lines
- Assist with post-operative care for CABG, heart/kidney transplant, aneurysm repairs, and other cardiac surgeries
- Administer emergency medications, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, and manage ventilated patients
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and more
- Maintain infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions
- Float to ICU and PCU units as needed to support facility staffing needs
