Med/Surg RN Job Details – Omaha, NE

• Location: Omaha, NE 68124 (Nebraska healthcare jobs)
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse, On-Site
• Unit: Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (3 shifts per week)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Assignment Duration: 13-week contract
• Start Date: December 15, 2025
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1860–$2000

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nebraska or compact state)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to first shift
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required prior to first shift
• Minimum 1 year of recent bedside clinical experience in Med/Surg nursing (2 years preferred)
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for medical-surgical patients
• Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and new staff
• Promote patient and staff safety by following hospital policies and clinical safety protocols
• Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record
• Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals
• Initiate discharge planning and provide patient and family education from admission through discharge
• Foster a positive, efficient work environment through teamwork and effective communication
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education for nursing excellence
