Med/Surg RN Job Details – Amarillo, TX
- Location: Amarillo, Texas 79106 (Texas nursing jobs)
- Unit: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) 6A – 10 beds
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 12/22/2025 – End: 3/23/2026)
- Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (19:00 – 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,460–$1,500
- Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (W2)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Orientation: 20 hours onsite, plus 4-6 hours of modules
- Holiday Coverage: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Float Policy: Required to float to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Local Candidate Policy: Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas or compact state (Registered Nurse Texas jobs)
- Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient Med/Surg nursing experience
- Recent Epic EMR experience (within the last 6 months)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Proficiency in isolation precautions, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and peripheral line care
- Ability to float to similar acuity medical-surgical units
- Must not have worked as permanent staff within the last year at this facility
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care to adult and geriatric populations in a 10-bed Med/Surg unit
- Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
- Accurately document patient care and assessments using Epic EMR
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, and Unit Secretary
- Maintain strict infection control and isolation protocols
- Float to medical-surgical units of equal or lesser acuity as needed
- Participate in onsite orientation and complete all required training modules
