Key Job Details – Registered Nurse Travel Contract
- Job Title: ICU/IMCU Float Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Munster, Indiana (46321) – Northwest Indiana healthcare jobs
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: January 5, 2026 – End: April 6, 2026)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2070 - $2120
- Facility Setting: ICU/IMCU Float Pool
- Shift: 3x12-Hour Nights (19:00 – 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 (critical care nursing)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Orientation: 24 hours
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Indiana or Compact State RN license (required for Indiana nursing jobs)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU or IMCU nursing experience
- ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Experience with EPIC charting system and Omnicell required
- Ability to float between ICU and IMCU units
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical exemptions only)
- First-time travel nurses welcome to apply
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Maximum 5 days requested time off per contract (1 holiday max)
- Must pass EKG Strip and Medication tests on first day (study guides provided; one remediation allowed, 80%+ required to pass)
- Return staff policy: former permanent employees must wait 1 year to return as a traveler
ICU/IMCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in ICU and IMCU settings
- Float between ICU and IMCU units based on patient census and acuity
- Manage patient ratios of 1:2 for optimal critical care
- Administer emergency medications and blood products
- Perform arterial and central line management
- Care for ventilated patients and those requiring BiPAP/CPAP
- Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias; titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Assist with neuro and cardiac patient management, including CVA/acute stroke protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, social services, rapid response)
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic medical records
- Participate in orientation and complete all required modules
