PCU Nursing Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio 43210 (Ohio nursing jobs)
• Unit: 9 BSH Ortho Neuro Spine Unit (Med Surg/PCU)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (January 12, 2026 – April 13, 2026)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1940 – $1990
• Patient Ratio: 1:3-4
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Employment Type: Travel nursing contract

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Medical Surgical nursing experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or compact state (must be in hand at submission)
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with telemetry and Epic EMR preferred
• Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity within the hospital
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership)
• First-time travel nurses welcome!

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to individuals recovering from orthopedic and neuro spine surgeries, including total hip/knee replacements and spinal cord injuries
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, manage arterial and central lines, and administer blood products
• Care for patients with tracheostomies, feeding tubes, and surgical drains
• Administer and titrate cardiac and insulin drips as appropriate
• Perform wound care, phlebotomy, and IV therapy
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to other nursing units within the hospital system as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Uphold infection control and isolation precautions
