ER RN Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as an Emergency Room RN in a Level I Trauma Center
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR (electronic medical records)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required for ER nursing jobs)
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency healthcare environment

ER RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients in the Emergency Department
• Assess, triage, and prioritize patient care based on acuity and clinical protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes
• Accurately document patient care and interventions using EPIC EMR
• Respond to trauma activations and medical emergencies as part of the Level I Trauma team
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, procedures, and discharge instructions
