PCU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Norfolk, VA 23507 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
- Unit: Cancer Unit 1 – Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Oncology, Med-Surg, Intermediate Care
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Start Date: December 29, 2025
- End Date: March 30, 2026
- Duration: 13-week travel contract
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1:3-5
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,950 – $2,090
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state (Virginia nursing license required)
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg), or Oncology nursing
- Experience with Med-Surg, oncology, hospice, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and ETOH patients preferred
- Proficiency with BIPAP, nurse-driven diuretic protocols, peritoneal dialysis, and IV Glucommander is a plus
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment
PCU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care in a progressive care and oncology setting
- Monitor and manage patients with complex conditions including CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and hospice needs
- Utilize advanced clinical equipment and protocols such as BIPAP, peritoneal dialysis, and IV Glucommander
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and healthcare standards
- Provide compassionate support to patients and families throughout their hospital stay
