PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

Location: Norfolk, VA 23507 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
Unit: Cancer Unit 1 – Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Oncology, Med-Surg, Intermediate Care
Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
Start Date: December 29, 2025
End Date: March 30, 2026
Duration: 13-week travel contract
Shift: 12-hour night shifts
Hours per Week: 36
Patient Ratio: 1:3-5
Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,950 – $2,090

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state (Virginia nursing license required)
Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg), or Oncology nursing
Experience with Med-Surg, oncology, hospice, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and ETOH patients preferred
Proficiency with BIPAP, nurse-driven diuretic protocols, peritoneal dialysis, and IV Glucommander is a plus
Ability to work 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment

PCU RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality patient care in a progressive care and oncology setting
Monitor and manage patients with complex conditions including CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and hospice needs
Utilize advanced clinical equipment and protocols such as BIPAP, peritoneal dialysis, and IV Glucommander
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
Maintain accurate patient documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and healthcare standards
Provide compassionate support to patients and families throughout their hospital stay
