Des Moines Healthcare Job Details

• Location: Des Moines, Iowa 50309 (Iowa nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: January 5, 2026 – End: April 6, 2026)
• Shift: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday (4x10 hour shifts/week, rotating day off)
• On-Call: Up to 1 overnight per week and 3 weekends per contract (weekend call: Friday 5pm – Monday 6:30am)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Unit: Operating Room (OR) – 16 suites, average 35-50 cases/day
• Scrubs: Provided
• EMR: EPIC
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2190 - $2350

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience
• Proficient circulating experience required; scrub experience preferred
• Experience with General, Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases required
• Additional experience in Neuro, Ortho (trauma), Gyn, Uro, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular preferred
• Level I trauma center experience required
• EPIC EMR experience within the past 3 years
• Must have completed at least one travel nursing assignment in the past 12 months (no first-time travelers)
• Ability to float across multiple hospital campuses

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality patient care as part of an interdisciplinary surgical healthcare team
• Circulate and scrub for a wide range of surgical cases: general, robotics, pediatrics, trauma, neuro, ortho, gyn, uro, transplants, plastics, ENT, and vascular
• Maintain efficient operating room turnover times (goal: under 20 minutes)
• Operate advanced surgical equipment, including Davinci robots and Stealth neuro navigation technology
• Participate in on-call rotation (overnight and weekend coverage)
• Float to other hospital campuses as needed
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC EMR
