Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details
- Location: Urbana, Illinois (61801) – Illinois nursing jobs
- Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown Unit
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)

- End Date: March 28, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Hours per Week: 36 (3x12 hour shifts)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2100-$2250
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience as a Cardiac Stepdown RN or in a cardiac/stepdown unit
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license in good standing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification – American Heart Association
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to cardiovascular medical-surgical patients, including post-op CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery cases
- Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans according to cardiac stepdown unit standards
- Implement, monitor, and adjust nursing interventions based on ongoing patient evaluation
- Maintain accurate documentation of all nursing care and clinical support activities
- Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Participate in hourly rounding and proactively support both internal and external customers
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and meet all hospital and unit-based competencies
- Engage in ongoing professional development and provide constructive feedback to colleagues
