PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210) – Ohio nursing jobs
• Unit: Stroke Unit / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/13/2026)
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM); includes rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,810 – $1,940
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Float Requirement: May float to other units within the healthcare organization

PCU RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Ohio or compact state (required at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• BCLS certification required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Two professional references (one from a manager, director, or formal leadership role)
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a stroke and neuro-focused Progressive Care Unit
• Manage a 1:4 patient ratio and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and more)
• Float to other hospital units as needed to support patient care
• Perform and manage procedures such as TNK administration, lumbar drains, and care for neurological diagnoses (stroke, craniotomy, EEG monitoring)
• Utilize EPIC for accurate patient documentation and charting
• Ensure compliance with all credentialing and fingerprinting requirements
• Participate in rotating night shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Provide wound care, manage IVs, central and peripheral lines, cardiac telemetry, and post-neurosurgery care
