Oncology RN Job Details
- Location: Albany, GA 31701 (Southwest Georgia healthcare jobs)
- Setting: Acute care, Oncology unit (7th floor)
- Unit Size: 29 beds
- Shifts: 12-hour nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680-$1800
- Contract Duration: 17 weeks (Start: 1/5/2026 – End: 5/4/2026)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Rotation: Rotate in with staff
- Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
- Charting System: MEDITECH 6.1
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia or compact state
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- ONS certification preferred for chemotherapy administration
- Minimum 2 years of recent oncology nursing experience
- Experience with acute oncology symptoms, hematology, and end-of-life care
- EMR experience (MEDITECH preferred)
- No first-time travelers (prior travel nursing experience required)
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
Oncology Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to oncology patients, including those with acute symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, and medical overflow
- Collaborate with nurse aides and charge nurse to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:5 (occasionally 1:6) for safe and effective care
- Float to medical acute unit as needed (rarely required)
- Participate in a comprehensive 3-day floor-specific orientation
- Support outpatient area patients who finish treatment on the floor if running late
- Rotate holidays and weekends with staff as part of the clinical team
- Utilize central monitor for telemetry (no requirement to read strips)
