ICU Registered Nurse Job Details

  • Location: Chicago, IL 60612 – Work in the heart of Chicago, a hub for healthcare professionals and diverse patient populations.
  • Contract Type: Travel Nursing – ICU RN
  • Healthcare Setting: Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Start Date: December 30, 2025
  • End Date: March 31, 2026
  • Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00pm – 7:30am)
  • Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • Floating: Required to float between Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, and Medical-Surgical units as needed
  • Orientation: First week on day shift
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $1780 - $1910

ICU RN Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience as an ICU Registered Nurse
  • Active Illinois RN license (must be in hand upon application)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting system
  • Ability to float between ICU and medical-surgical units; adaptable to team-based care models
  • Strong compliance and documentation skills

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality critical care nursing to patients in Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU settings
  • Manage arterial lines, central lines, ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
  • Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
  • Implement isolation precautions and PPE protocols according to hospital guidelines
  • Document patient care accurately using Cerner EMR
  • Float to various ICU and medical-surgical units as required to support patient care needs
  • Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical training
