Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Vero Beach, Florida (32960) – Florida healthcare job
• Unit: Cardiac Stepdown Unit (CSU) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/6/2026 – End: 4/7/2026)
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
• Weekly Hours: 36 (Guaranteed)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1360-$1460
• Charting System: EPIC
• Scrub Color: White
• Parking: Free, unrestricted spaces

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (compact state licenses accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Cardiac Stepdown, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or similar clinical setting (2 years preferred)
• Certifications: American Heart Association BLS and ACLS (required at submission), NIHSS (prior to start)
• Proficiency with EPIC charting (level 3 or 4 preferred)
• Experience with cardiac drips (no titration required)
• Ability to float to nearby hospitals within 20 miles as needed
• Negative 10 Panel + Nicotine (Cotinine) drug screen within 12 months of start
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Two professional references from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in cardiac/stepdown specialty (from past 12 months)
• First-time travel nurses welcome

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown and progressive care patients
• Monitor and manage complex cardiac conditions, including dysrhythmias, telemetry, and cardiac drips
• Respond to rapid response/code situations and administer blood products
• Care for central and peripheral lines, provide oxygen therapy, and manage non-invasive airway needs
• Maintain strict infection control and isolation precautions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to other units or nearby hospitals within scope as required
• Complete required modules and assessments prior to and during orientation
