Texas Nursing Job Details

• Location: Brownwood, TX 76801 (Central Texas)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: January 19, 2026 – End: April 20, 2026)
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: Med-Tele 4 West – Telemetry Med/Surg
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Weekend Coverage: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Sat/Sun)
• Orientation: 12 hours plus required modules (6-8 hours, completed during orientation)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Experience with electronic charting systems (Altera preferred)
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of 5-6
• Must complete facility drug screening upon arrival (including marijuana)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Available to complete required labs within 72 hours of offer acceptance
• Travelers must reside at least 150 miles from the facility

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg Telemetry patients (adolescent, adult, geriatric)
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond to patient condition changes
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform blood product administration
• Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias
• Care for central lines, PICC lines, and chest tubes
• Implement isolation precautions and infection control protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy)
• Participate in rapid response and code teams
• Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records
• Educate and support patients and families with compassionate care
