PCU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210) – Ohio nursing jobs
• Assignment Length: 13-16 weeks travel contract
• Start Date: January 26, 2026
• End Date: May 18, 2026
• Shift: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day: 07:00 – 19:30, Night: 19:00 – 07:30); may include days, nights, or a combination
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) contract
• Unit: James Corrections Health Unit – PCU (locked corrections unit)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (compact or Ohio state nursing license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU, Medical-Surgical, or Telemetry nursing experience
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Oncology nursing experience preferred
• Ability to float to Oncology and Medical-Surgical units as needed
• Two professional references required (one from a manager/director or formal leader)

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care to oncology and medical-surgical patients in a secure corrections healthcare setting
• Float between Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical units as assigned
• Monitor and manage patients with oncology diagnoses, post-surgical needs, and complex medical conditions
• Interpret and manage cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias
• Administer medications, including heparin protocols, cardiac drips (no titration), and blood products
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/PICC line care
• Manage respiratory support (CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, oxygen therapy)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
• Ensure staff and patient safety in a locked corrections unit with controlled access
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
