Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Spooner, Wisconsin 54801
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/19/2026 – End: 4/20/2026)
• Healthcare Setting: Medical Surgical (Med/Surg), Acute Care, Inpatient Services
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour night shifts, rotating every 3rd weekend (may cover additional weekends)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Charting System: EPIC
• Department Size: 18 beds
• Orientation: 12 hours (4 hours on the floor, 8 hours with education RN)
• Scrub Color: Any professional color

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Registered Nurse)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience preferred
• Strong teamwork and positive attitude
• Ability to read telemetry and monitor strips
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from Spooner, WI (per facility policy)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses (pneumonia, CHF, COPD, cellulitis, post-surgical cases)
• Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 (occasionally 1:5 or 1:6)
• Titrate IV drips (Heparin, Cardizem); initiate levophed or dopamine prior to transfer as needed
• Collaborate with CNAs and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
• Float to the Emergency Department to assist as needed (not expected to take full assignment)
• Operate respiratory therapy equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen devices)
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC charting system
• Participate in department orientation and ongoing nursing education
