Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Hilo, Hawaii (96720) – Hawaii nursing jobs
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel contract
• Start Date: January 26, 2026
• End Date: April 27, 2026
• Shift: Night shift; 12-hour rotating shifts; flexibility required
• Hours per Week: 36 hours scheduled weekly after orientation
• Setting: Med/Surg Adult Unit (77 beds)
• Dress Code: Professional nursing attire
• Orientation: Department-specific training provided

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience in a hospital setting
• Active Registered Nurse license; Hawaii RN license required by start date
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• Proof of flu vaccination or approved exemption prior to contract start
• Must arrive in Hilo the Thursday before start date for employee health clearance
• Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, and chest tubes preferred

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients in the Med/Surg unit
• Operate medical equipment including Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, and chest tubes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to other hospital units as needed, including Laulima and Cardiovascular Units
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with hospital policies
• Demonstrate flexibility with shift lengths and scheduling
