ICU Nursing Job Details

• Location: Richmond, VA 23219 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: January 19, 2026
• End Date: April 20, 2026
• Setting: Medical Respiratory ICU (28 private patient rooms, daily census ~26)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:00), 3 shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Coverage: Required (minimum 6 weekend shifts per contract)
• Orientation: 40 hours (includes modules and on-unit training)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience (Level 1 Trauma Center experience required)
• Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (must be in hand at time of submission)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, CCRN
• Travel nurse experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Ability to float within competency as needed
• 2 professional references required

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients (sepsis, DKA, respiratory distress, post-codes, BMT/Oncology)
• Monitor and manage patients requiring continuous IV sedation, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV and arterial line placement
• Care for patients with NxStage CRRT, tracheostomies, and advanced respiratory needs
• Assist with bedside procedures: bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, endoscopy, central and arterial line placements, lumbar punctures
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy
• Utilize advanced medical equipment: Philips bedside monitors, Alaris infusion pumps, CADD controlled substance pumps
• Document all care and interventions accurately in EPIC
• Participate in self-scheduling and maintain flexibility for weekend and holiday coverage
