Travel Nurse Job Details

• Position: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nurse
• Location: Albuquerque, NM 87102 (New Mexico nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
• Contract Type: 13-week travel contract
• Start Date: January 19, 2026
• End Date: April 20, 2026
• Shift: Night Shift (3x12-Hour, 19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36 or 48 hours available
• Patient Ratio: 1:8
• Weekend Coverage: Required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active NM or Compact RN license (required at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or acute inpatient rehab nursing experience
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support) required
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Previous charge nurse, community hospital, LTAC, or Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Ability to float to similar units as needed
• Travelers must reside outside a 50-mile radius from facility

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in an acute inpatient rehabilitation setting
• Manage a patient load of up to 8 patients per shift
• Administer medications, blood products, and manage IVs
• Perform wound care, pressure ulcer prevention, and post-surgical management
• Monitor blood glucose, implement insulin protocols, and provide diabetic education
• Care for patients with chronic renal failure/dialysis, neuromuscular disease, and traumatic brain injury
• Utilize assistive devices, feeding tubes, tracheostomy care, and specialty beds
• Conduct pain assessments, fall risk evaluations, and implement safety measures
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV and phlebotomy support
• Educate patients and families on disease management and rehabilitation goals
