Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Wilson, NC 27893 (Eastern North Carolina nursing jobs)
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Unit: Medical Surgical (Med/Surg), 3rd & 5th floors, 22 beds each
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Shifts per Week: 3 shifts/week (36 hours guaranteed)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 12/14/2025 – End: 3/15/2026)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Electronic Health Record: MEDITECH
• Orientation: Bi-weekly sessions

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (North Carolina or compact state)
• Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and NIH Stroke certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Experience with MEDITECH electronic health records preferred
• Ability to float to Telemetry and Emergency Department (ED) as needed
• Must reside at least 60 miles from Wilson, NC to qualify for travel nurse jobs

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg unit
• Manage patient loads with ratios of 6:1 to 7:1
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions; administer medications using MEDITECH
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans
• Float to Telemetry and Emergency Department (ED) units as needed
• Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing professional development
• Maintain a positive, family-oriented approach to patient care and teamwork
