• Location: Springfield, Illinois 62781
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Oncology Unit (24 beds)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/26/2026 – End: 4/27/2026)
• Nursing Shift: Day shifts, 12 hours (7:15 AM – 6:45 PM)
• Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts per week (flexible options)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Census: Average daily census of 24
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Parking: Free with permit

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or eligibility
• Minimum 1 year of recent oncology nursing experience
• Chemo certification preferred (ONS/ONCC, OCN)
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• Ability to float within hospital and to affiliate hospitals
• Willingness to work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Strong IV therapy and infusion skills

Oncology RN Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to oncology and hospice patients
• Administer chemotherapy (IV push, oral, continuous infusion) and manage cytotoxic spills
• Monitor patients for side effects and abnormal lab values
• Perform IV therapy, including starting IVs, accessing ports, and central/PICC line care
• Administer blood products, coagulation factors, antifungals, and antivirals
• Educate and support patients and families throughout cancer treatment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to other nursing units as needed to support hospital operations
