Texas Healthcare Job Details

• Location: Abilene, TX 79601 (West Texas)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: January 19, 2026
• Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (06:30 - 19:00), Monday to Wednesday; includes call and late days as needed
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience
• Required: Experience with craniotomy and burr hole procedures
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Preferred: CNOR, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC certifications
• Preferred: Experience with Allscripts or Altera electronic charting systems
• Preferred: Previous charge nurse, trauma level I/II, and travel nursing experience
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Ability to complete facility drug screening upon arrival (includes marijuana)

OR Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to surgical patients in the main Operating Room
• Circulate and/or scrub for neuro/spine, ortho/trauma, and general/robotics/trauma procedures
• Demonstrate proficiency in craniotomy and burr hole procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Maintain accurate documentation using electronic charting systems
• Participate in call rotation and cover late shifts as needed
• Support a 1:1 patient ratio in the OR
• Comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and healthcare regulations
