Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

  • Location: Lynchburg, Virginia 24501
  • Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit (CIMU)
  • Assignment Type: Travel Nursing
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/13/2026)
  • Nursing Shift: 12-hour night shifts
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Teaching Hospital: Collaborate with students and new hires in a dynamic healthcare team

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in cardiac stepdown or intermediate care nursing jobs
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Active Virginia RN License or Compact State RN License (required at start)
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (current)
  • Skills Checklist and complete work history documentation
  • Ability to explain any gaps in work history over 90 days
  • Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
  • Submit all requested time off with your application

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients with diverse acuity levels
  • Operate advanced clinical equipment: vital signs monitors, glucometers, SCDs, bladder scanners, vein finders, remote telemetry, wound vacs, IV pumps, pulse oximeters, chest tubes, tube feeding pumps, and oxygen delivery devices
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, students, and new hires to promote a positive learning environment
  • Float to other hospital units as needed to support patient care
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient safety standards in all nursing duties
