Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location: Lynchburg, Virginia 24501
Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit (CIMU)
Assignment Type: Travel Nursing
Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/13/2026)
Nursing Shift: 12-hour night shifts
Hours per Week: 36
Teaching Hospital: Collaborate with students and new hires in a dynamic healthcare team

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent experience in cardiac stepdown or intermediate care nursing jobs
Previous travel nursing experience required
Active Virginia RN License or Compact State RN License (required at start)
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (current)
Skills Checklist and complete work history documentation
Ability to explain any gaps in work history over 90 days
Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
Submit all requested time off with your application

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients with diverse acuity levels
Operate advanced clinical equipment: vital signs monitors, glucometers, SCDs, bladder scanners, vein finders, remote telemetry, wound vacs, IV pumps, pulse oximeters, chest tubes, tube feeding pumps, and oxygen delivery devices
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, students, and new hires to promote a positive learning environment
Float to other hospital units as needed to support patient care
Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient safety standards in all nursing duties
