- Shift: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day: 07:00–19:30; Night: 19:00–07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1940 - $2040
- Patient Ratios: 2:1 (Days, Nights, Weekends)
- Unit Size: 12 beds
- Daily Census: 11
Job Requirements (Critical Care / Travel RN)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience (required)
- Previous travel RN experience required (experienced travel nurses only)
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR / EPIC charting system (required)
- Oncology experience preferred (SICU/NCCU Oncology experience a plus)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (current)
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Valid RN license: Ohio RN or compact state license required at time of submission
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- First-time travel nurses are not eligible for this assignment
- Two professional references required (at least one from a supervisor or manager; no coworker references accepted)
Primary Responsibilities (Surgical ICU / Critical Care Nurse)
- Provide high-quality critical care nursing for adult patients in the SICU/NCCU Oncology unit as a Surgical ICU RN
- Manage complex critical diagnoses: hemorrhagic/hypovolemic shock, sepsis, ARDS, stroke, intracranial hypertension, delirium, and related conditions
- Perform and assist with specialized procedures: external ventricular drain (EVD) management, ICP monitoring, and tracheostomy care
- Manage advanced life support and emergency protocols, including massive transfusion protocol and administration of blood products
- Provide ventilator management and advanced respiratory care: mechanical ventilation, heated high-flow, BiPAP/CPAP
- Provide continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) management and vasopressor/pressor titration
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac dysrhythmias; titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Administer emergency medications and manage ventilated patients per unit protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, IV team, and physicians to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation using the EPIC EMR system
- Adhere to infection prevention, isolation protocols, and unit-specific policies
- Float as needed to MICU/SICU, Medical/Surgical, or PCU units based on staffing needs
