Cardiac OR Nursing Job Details

• Location: Youngstown, OH 44504 (Ohio healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Employment Type: Travel RN, On-Site
• Shift: Day shift, Monday–Friday (8-hour shifts: 6:30am–3:00pm; 10-hour shifts: 6:30am–5:00pm; occasional 5:30am start)
• On-Call: 10–12 call shifts per 6-week schedule (includes 1–2 weekends and 1–2 days/week); 30-minute call turnaround (call rooms available)
• Hours per Week: 36–40
• Unit: 2 CVORs, including hybrid room for TAVRs
• Average Caseload: 2–6 cases daily; approx. 6 open-heart surgeries weekly

CVOR Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in Ohio or compact state (required for Ohio nursing jobs)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• NIH Stroke Certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years cardiac OR experience, plus 1–2 years general OR experience
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide provided)
• CNOR and PALS certifications preferred
• Ability to take on-call shifts and respond within 30 minutes

CVOR RN Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinate and deliver care for cardiac and general surgical procedures (CABG, TAVRs, VATs, windows, and more)
• Circulate and assist in cardiac and general OR cases
• Administer medications safely per hospital policies
• Serve as a liaison for patient care coordination across departments
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Deliver pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care, including assessments and discharge instructions
• Maintain sterile technique and anticipate surgical team needs
• Assist with equipment operation, documentation, and reprocessing (Endoscopy team if applicable)
• Educate and support patients and families throughout the surgical experience
