PCU Nursing Job Details

• Location: Hermitage, TN 37076 (Greater Nashville area)
• Unit: Observation Unit (25 beds, modern facility)
• Assignment Type: Travel RN contract
• Start Date: January 12, 2026
• End Date: April 13, 2026
• Duration: 13-week nursing contract
• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Scheduling: Every other weekend required
• Patient Ratios: 5:1 (nights)
• Dress Code: Black scrubs (RN), closed-toed shoes

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU, step-down, or travel nurse experience
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and EKG rhythm certification (required)
• Neuro and cardiac nursing experience preferred
• Ability to float to other hospital units as needed
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care in the Observation/PCU setting
• Monitor, assess, and triage acute care patients; identify life-threatening cardiac rhythms
• Perform nursing procedures: glucose monitoring, Foley catheter insertion, dressing changes, EKGs, peritoneal dialysis
• Utilize Alaris Pumps, B450 Monitors, Pyxis, and Meditech EMR system
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams (RNs, techs, unit secretaries)
• Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to hospital policies
• Float to other units as required for clinical support
• Promote positive patient experiences and contribute to a collaborative team environment
