Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active, unencumbered RN license (Kentucky or compact state preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a PCU Registered Nurse or in an acute care/step-down unit
  • BLS certification (required)
  • ACLS certification (preferred for Progressive Care Unit RN jobs)
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care in the Progressive Care Unit
  • Monitor, assess, and respond to changes in patient conditions
  • Administer medications, treatments, and prescribed interventions
  • Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and families to develop and implement care plans
  • Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Educate patients and families on health management and post-discharge care
  • Maintain a safe, supportive environment for patients and staff
