Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Springfield, Illinois 62769
• Unit: Medical Unit 3 (General Med/Surg, including Hospice patients)
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Start Date: November 10, 2025
• Open Positions: 7 Med/Surg RN jobs available
• Illinois RN License: Active Illinois Registered Nurse license required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in Illinois (required for application)
• At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam (remediation available; two attempts permitted)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
• Experience with diverse patient populations, including hospice care, preferred

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-focused care on a 20-bed Med/Surg unit (14 beds open)
• Manage a caseload of up to 6 patients per night shift
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to create and implement individualized care plans
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and progress
• Administer medications and prescribed treatments
• Educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and healthcare regulations
