Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Hilo, Hawaii (96720) – Hawaii nursing jobs
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel contract
• Start Date: February 2, 2026
• End Date: May 4, 2026
• Hours per Week: 36 (after orientation week)
• Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts; flexibility for various shift lengths and days required
• Healthcare Setting: Transitional Care Unit (TCU), 32 beds
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:8 (day: 1:6 aides, night: 1:8)
• Dress Code: Professional nursing attire

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Hawaii RN license required by start date (apply upon offer if needed)
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or Transitional Care Unit experience (2+ years preferred)
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, chest tubes, tube feeding, NG/G-tubes, trach care, PICC/PORT
• Proof of flu vaccination or approved exemption prior to start
• Ability to arrive in Hilo the Thursday before start date for employee health clearance
• Flexibility to work various shifts and float to Med/Surg and Surgical Pediatrics units as needed

RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult patients in the Transitional Care Unit
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions using Meditech EMR
• Administer medications and treatments, including wound care, tube feedings, and trach care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain a safe, organized, and supportive environment for patients and staff
• Float to other units as required, including Med/Surg and Surgical Pediatrics
• Participate in orientation and ongoing department-specific nursing training
