Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Hilo, Hawaii (96720) – Hawaii nursing jobs
- Assignment Length: 13-week travel contract
- Start Date: February 2, 2026
- End Date: May 4, 2026
- Hours per Week: 36 (after orientation week)
- Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts; flexibility for various shift lengths and days required
- Healthcare Setting: Transitional Care Unit (TCU), 32 beds
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:8 (day: 1:6 aides, night: 1:8)
- Dress Code: Professional nursing attire
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Hawaii RN license required by start date (apply upon offer if needed)
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or Transitional Care Unit experience (2+ years preferred)
- Proficiency with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, chest tubes, tube feeding, NG/G-tubes, trach care, PICC/PORT
- Proof of flu vaccination or approved exemption prior to start
- Ability to arrive in Hilo the Thursday before start date for employee health clearance
- Flexibility to work various shifts and float to Med/Surg and Surgical Pediatrics units as needed
RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult patients in the Transitional Care Unit
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions using Meditech EMR
- Administer medications and treatments, including wound care, tube feedings, and trach care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain a safe, organized, and supportive environment for patients and staff
- Float to other units as required, including Med/Surg and Surgical Pediatrics
- Participate in orientation and ongoing department-specific nursing training
