Travel RN Job Details

• Location: Hilo, Hawaii (96720) – Big Island healthcare jobs
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel contract (February 23, 2026 – May 25, 2026)
• Setting: Cardiac Stepdown, Med-Surg Adult, Step Down Units
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (06:45 – 19:15)
• Hours: 36 hours per week after orientation
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse contract

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license (or ability to obtain before start date)
• At least 2 years of recent experience in cardiac stepdown, med-surg, or stepdown nursing jobs
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Additional certifications such as PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, or ENPC are a plus
• Proof of immunity required (no medical or religious exemptions)
• Must arrive in Hilo the Thursday before assignment for employee health appointment

RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in Cardiac Stepdown, Med-Surg Adult, and Step Down units
• Float between Medical, Laulima (Surgical Acute), and Cardiovascular units as needed
• Utilize Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, and chest tubes
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios (Medical: 1:6 days/eves, 1:8 nights; Laulima: 1:6; Cardiovascular: 1:4)
• Follow professional nursing attire guidelines and maintain clean scrubs
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and ongoing training
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
