Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Harvey, Illinois 60426 (Chicago metropolitan area)
• Healthcare Setting: Medical/Surgical Float Pool
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/13/2026)
• Nursing Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts per week (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Yes, within the float pool
• Charting System: Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical/Surgical RN experience (required)
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license (must be in hand at submission)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• NIHSS certification (preferred)
• Ability to pass EKG strip test at orientation (for telemetry nursing positions)
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off during contract
• Two professional references (one from a direct supervisor/manager)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced medical/surgical setting
• Float as needed within the float pool to support various clinical units
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and more
• Provide patient and family education and support
• Maintain accurate charting using Epic EMR
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards
