Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire (03801) – New Hampshire nursing jobs
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: January 12, 2026
• End Date: April 13, 2026
• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: 3rd Medical, Shoals Building
• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:6, occasional 1:7 during surges
• Self-scheduling available (leadership may adjust for balance)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent hospital experience in a Med/Surg RN role
• Active Compact RN License (valid at time of submission)
• BLS certification (required)
• IV certification (required)
• Experience with telemetry monitoring
• Knowledge of Meditech Expanse documentation system preferred

Med/Surg Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to medical-surgical patients
• Perform advanced nursing procedures: CBI, wound care, drain management (chest tubes, Jackson Pratt), Foley insertion, central line dressing changes, telemetry monitoring, and EKGs
• Participate in bedside shift reports, hourly safety rounding, and build strong patient relationships
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare team members including LNAs and unit secretaries
• Float to similar levels of care as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation using Meditech Expanse
