PACU RN Job Details

• Location: Carbondale, Illinois 62901
• Assignment Type: Travel nursing job
• Healthcare Setting: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Start Date: December 23, 2025
• End Date: March 24, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour days (09:00 – 21:30)
• Schedule: 3 days per week, 36 guaranteed hours
• On-Call: Average 1 primary and 1 backup call per week, including weekends (6 primary/6 backup calls in a 6-week schedule)
• PACU Bays: 15, assigned per ASPAN Standards

PACU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent PACU or critical care nursing experience
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to participate in on-call rotation, including weekends

PACU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality post-anesthesia nursing care to patients recovering from surgery or procedures
• Monitor patient vital signs, manage pain, and assess readiness for discharge from PACU
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative healthcare team to ensure safe patient transitions
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with hospital policies and ASPAN standards
• Participate in scheduled primary and backup on-call rotations
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented healthcare environment
