Labor & Delivery RN Job Details
- Position Type: Travel Nurse, Full-Time
- Location: On-site in New Braunfels, Texas
- Unit: Labor & Delivery
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/12/2026)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Nurse/Patient Ratio: 1:2 for Labor & Delivery, 1:6 (3 moms/3 babies) for Postpartum
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Texas RN license or compact state nursing license
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Labor & Delivery or related clinical nursing specialty
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current BLS certification (AHA required)
- Current NRP certification (AHA required)
- Current ACLS certification (AHA required)
- Certification in AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
- Current STABLE certification (Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor)
- Completion of New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire (for new hires)
- Annual nursing competency verification required
Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation)
- Monitor and document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided in the Labor & Delivery unit
- Administer medications and treatments per clinical protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
- Support the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on care plans, postpartum care, and available resources
- Delegate and assign tasks to clinical support staff to manage patient care effectively
- Participate in ongoing professional development and annual competency validation
