Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Position Type: Travel Nurse, Full-Time
• Location: On-site in New Braunfels, Texas
• Unit: Labor & Delivery
• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/12/2026)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Nurse/Patient Ratio: 1:2 for Labor & Delivery, 1:6 (3 moms/3 babies) for Postpartum

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license or compact state nursing license
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Labor & Delivery or related clinical nursing specialty
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current BLS certification (AHA required)
• Current NRP certification (AHA required)
• Current ACLS certification (AHA required)
• Certification in AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
• Current STABLE certification (Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor)
• Completion of New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire (for new hires)
• Annual nursing competency verification required

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation)
• Monitor and document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided in the Labor & Delivery unit
• Administer medications and treatments per clinical protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
• Support the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on care plans, postpartum care, and available resources
• Delegate and assign tasks to clinical support staff to manage patient care effectively
• Participate in ongoing professional development and annual competency validation
