PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Healthcare Setting: Intermediate Care Unit (ICU/PCU)
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
• Start Date: January 20, 2026
• End Date: April 21, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shifts: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours/week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Float: May float to nearby hospitals within 20 miles as needed
• Scrub Color: White
• Charting: EPIC EMR
• Parking: Free in any unrestricted space

PCU Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 18 months of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience (2 years preferred)
• ICU nursing experience required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending license accepted)
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA or American Red Cross), ACLS (must have at time of submission), NIHSS (must obtain prior to start)
• Epic EMR experience (proficiency level 3 or 4)
• Familiarity with cardiac drips and advanced cardiac life support
• Nicotine-free (negative nicotine/cotinine drug screen required)
• Ability to pass EKG and Pharmacology tests during orientation (2 attempts max)
• First-time travel nurses welcome!
• All requested time off must be submitted up front

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to PCU/Intermediate Care patients in a clinical setting
• Manage BiPAP and CPAP therapy for respiratory support
• Provide care for ventilated patients, including suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Monitor and manage arterial lines and central lines
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias; titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Administer continuous IV sedation and care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols for infection control
• Float to other units or nearby hospitals within scope as needed
• Complete all required modules and orientation promptly
