Virginia Nursing Job Details

• Location: Midlothian, VA 23114 (Richmond area)
• Healthcare Setting: Med/Surg Oncology Unit (must float to other Med/Surg Tele units)
• Assignment Type: Travel RN job
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (3x12hr/week)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/5/2026, End: 4/4/2026)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend & major holiday required
• Unit Details: 36 beds, patient ages 45-65, Alaris pumps, Hercules beds, 2-3 CNAs per shift, 24-hour phlebotomy support
• Scrub Colors: Navy/white

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (required)
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Tele RN experience (required)
• 6 months of acute care hospital RN experience (preferred)
• BLS and NIH Stroke Certification (required)
• ACLS, CCRN, PCCN certifications (preferred)
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam (study guide provided)
• Travel nurse candidates only (must reside 50+ miles from facility)
• EPIC EHR experience (preferred)

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate outcomes
• Safely administer medications and follow hospital policies
• Coordinate patient care and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Advocate for patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives
• Manage care for patients with multi-system organ failure or multisystem trauma
• Float to other Med/Surg Tele units as needed
• Educate and support patients and families
• Respond effectively to emergencies and rapidly changing patient conditions
• Utilize advanced clinical skills: hemodynamic monitoring, chest tube management, conscious sedation
• Maintain professionalism, cultural competence, and clear communication
