Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Albany, NY 12208 (New York healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
• Unit: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) – AMC 78
• Start Date: January 19, 2026
• End Date: March 16, 2026
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (12-hour day shifts)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Dress Code: Navy Blue Scrubs Required
• EMR System: Epic (Epic EMR experience required)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (New York RN license preferred for local candidates)
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience in a 600+ bed academic hospital with passing competency test or 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience (no testing required)
• Proficiency with Epic EMR system
• Ability to wear navy blue scrubs as required by hospital policy
• Competency test required within 24 hours of submission (unless 2 years of qualifying experience)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and effective nursing care to patients in the Med/Surg unit
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
• Accurately document patient information using Epic EMR
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, reporting changes promptly to medical staff
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
• Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge instructions, and health maintenance
• Float to other hospital units as needed to support clinical operations
