Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Ronceverte, West Virginia 24970 (West Virginia nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Community Hospital – Labor & Delivery Unit
• Contract Type: Travel nursing contract
• Start Date: January 19, 2026
• End Date: April 20, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shifts, 3x12-hour (07:00 – 19:00); 4x12s and call may be required based on census
• Schedule: Blocked scheduling available; every other weekend required
• Patient Ratio: 1:3
• Unit Size: 8 beds; daily census 2-4
• Scrub Color: Navy blue

Labor & Delivery RN Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse experience
• Active RN license in West Virginia or compact state (pending license considered)
• American Heart Association (AHA) certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, FHM, AWHONN
• Experience with Cerner EMR charting preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Ability to provide at least 2 manager or charge references from the past 2 years
• Flu vaccine required during October–March (medical exemptions only)
• Must reside at least 100 miles from facility (75–100 miles considered case-by-case)
• First-time travel nurses welcome!

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Monitor and assess mothers and infants, document vital signs, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, cesarean sections, and postpartum care
• Administer medications, IVs, and blood products as needed
• Utilize and interpret fetal monitoring equipment
• Educate and support patients and families on labor, delivery, and newborn care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy
• Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
• Follow infection control protocols and hospital policies
• Participate in orientation, ongoing training, and required modules prior to start
