Outpatient Registered Nurse Job Details

- Setting: Outpatient Surgery Operating Room (OR)
- Assignment Type: Travel RN
- Start Date: January 20, 2026
- End Date: April 14, 2026
- Duration: 12 weeks
- Hours per Week: 40
- Shift: Flexible day shifts: 4x10-hour (6:30am – 6:00pm) or 3x12-hour (Wed, Thurs, Fri, 5:30am – 6:00pm)
- Unit: 6-bed Outpatient Surgery OR, average daily census of 20
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Charting System: Epic, Pyxis
- Scrub Color: Provided
- Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend; must be available for major holidays during assignment
- Floating: May float to main hospital OR as needed
- Call Requirements: Yes
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active GA or Compact RN license (required at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in an operating room or outpatient surgery setting
- BLS certification required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Experience with Epic and Pyxis preferred
- Ability to care for patients from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Must provide two supervisory references (Manager or above)
- Compliance with all onboarding requirements and timely completion of orientation modules
Outpatient Surgery RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures
- Circulate in the OR (no scrubbing required)
- Assist with a variety of surgical procedures: dental, ENT, general surgery, cataracts, orthopedics, plastics, GYN, pediatrics, neuro, podiatry
- Monitor and assess patient status throughout the perioperative process
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Document patient care accurately using Epic and Pyxis systems
- Float to main hospital OR as needed
- Participate in on-call rotation and work assigned weekends/holidays
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized clinical environment
