Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Lynchburg, VA 24501 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Diabetic Renal Medical Unit (DRMU) – Teaching Hospital
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Start Dates: January 12, 2026 or January 26, 2026
• End Date: April 13, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 48
• Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per month based on unit need
• Orientation: Every other Monday

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Medical-Surgical nursing (Med/Surg RN jobs)
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Active Virginia or Compact RN license at time of submission
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Teaching hospital or charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively with students and new hires
• All requested time off must be submitted with application
• Locals within 60 miles are not eligible for this travel nurse job

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care in the Diabetic Renal Medical Unit (DRMU)
• Float to other hospital units as needed based on clinical requirements
• Support and mentor students and new hires in a teaching hospital environment
• Participate in orientation and adapt to unit needs, including weekend coverage
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and healthcare procedures
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EMR systems
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative healthcare team culture
