Key Job Details – CVICU RN Travel Assignment

• Location: Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20774
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: January 26, 2026
• End Date: April 27, 2026
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:30 - 08:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), 8 beds, adult and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: 2:1 (1:1 for first 12 hours post-op)
• Floating: Required within CVICU specialty, sister units, and lower acuity units
• Weekend & Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled

CVICU RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or Compact State
• Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU or open heart experience (2+ years preferred)
• ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA required)
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Ability to float to IMC (Intermediate Care Unit) and other units
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Two professional references from recent employers
• Travel nursing experience required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

CVICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to post-cardiac surgery patients (CABG, valve replacement, vascular procedures)
• Manage advanced cardiac devices and therapies: IABP, Impella, CRRT, ECMO, FloTrac, ventilators
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, arterial blood gases, and hemodynamic parameters
• Administer emergency medications, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage sedation/paralytics
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal, arterial/central line management, and wound care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services)
• Float to IMC and other units as required, adapting to varying patient acuity levels
• Maintain strict infection prevention and isolation protocols
• Participate in self-scheduling and ensure compliance with facility policies and documentation requirements
