Key Job Details – CVICU RN Travel Assignment
- Location: Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20774
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: January 26, 2026
- End Date: April 27, 2026
- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:30 - 08:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Healthcare Setting: Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), 8 beds, adult and geriatric patients
- Patient Ratio: 2:1 (1:1 for first 12 hours post-op)
- Floating: Required within CVICU specialty, sister units, and lower acuity units
- Weekend & Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
CVICU RN Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or Compact State
- Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU or open heart experience (2+ years preferred)
- ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA required)
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred
- Ability to float to IMC (Intermediate Care Unit) and other units
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Two professional references from recent employers
- Travel nursing experience required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
CVICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to post-cardiac surgery patients (CABG, valve replacement, vascular procedures)
- Manage advanced cardiac devices and therapies: IABP, Impella, CRRT, ECMO, FloTrac, ventilators
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, arterial blood gases, and hemodynamic parameters
- Administer emergency medications, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage sedation/paralytics
- Assist with chest tube insertion/removal, arterial/central line management, and wound care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services)
- Float to IMC and other units as required, adapting to varying patient acuity levels
- Maintain strict infection prevention and isolation protocols
- Participate in self-scheduling and ensure compliance with facility policies and documentation requirements
